A survey of potential buyers on four continents confirms a very high level of interest in opportunities that arise from the current crisis.

With the lockdown of the economy, many companies will not be able to survive the current situation without comprehensive restructuring measures or even insolvency proceedings, despite all government support and banking measures. Therefore, we expect a massive increase in distressed M&A transactions.

At the same time, we experience a very high level of interest from potential buyers – we receive almost daily approaches by financial investors or strategic buyers who express their willingness and ability to acquire a company. To analyse these developments, we have asked potential strategic buyers in Asia, Europe, North and South America about the reasons for their buying interest at the present time.
